Kashi Vishwanath Temple
Spiritual Significance & History
Located in Varanasi (Kashi), the oldest living city in the world, Kashi Vishwanath stands on the western bank of the holy Ganges. Known as the Golden Temple due to its gold-plated spires, it is the center of Shaivite faith. A dip in the Ganges followed by Darshan of Vishveshvara (Lord of the Universe) is believed to lead to Moksha (salvation). The newly constructed Kashi Vishwanath Corridor has beautifully connected the temple directly with the ghats of the Ganga.
As one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas, this holy temple acts as a focal point of intense spiritual energy. Devotees travel from far and wide to capture a glance (Darshan) of the divine light form of Lord Shiva. It is believed that visual contemplation of the Lingam combined with the chanting of Om Namah Shivaya clears the mind of worldly attachments and awakens cosmic consciousness.
Darshan Guidelines
- Keep the volume level adjusted for quiet contemplation and meditation.
- You can chant the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra while watching the live feed.
- The online darshan mimics the actual stream sourced from temple channels. Feeds might temporarily recycle recorded aarti sequences depending on temple schedules.
